SOVELO
For this project, I was assigned with developing a fictional high speed railway service complete with the design of the brand identity, physical train, and marketing collateral.
The logo and type is futuristic and reminiscent of science fiction and
lore, a concept founded in impressions of wonder and mystique.
Logo Crafting:
The logo embodies the bold and energetic spirit of Sovelo. Angled lines penetrate a bright spot of orange and merge to form the shape of the high speed train. The dynamism portrayed through the relationship of the various components of the form emphasize the speed of a trip on Sovelo's rails and a vigor and playfulness that is seen repeated throughout the entirety of the Sovelo identity and experience.
The 'Sovelo' Name:
'Sovelo' was born from the combination of the words "southern" and "velocity", not only implying Sovelo's southern railway system (a system that links New Orleans, Birmingham, and Atlanta), but the efficiency of its travel.
The movement of the type's bold, connecting letters eludes to the idea of zeal and enthusiasm. The dark maroon coupled with the orange creates an attractive contrast and further brightens the value of the orange.
